AI Metadata Cleaner (Guide #8): 100% Local EXIF, GPS, XMP & C2PA Metadata Remover#
Photos, videos, PDFs, Camera RAW files, and AI-generated media routinely contain hidden metadata packets: camera EXIF serial numbers, exact GPS coordinates, XMP editing history, ComfyUI/Stable Diffusion generation prompts, and cryptographic C2PA/JUMBF Content Credentials manifests. Uploading private files to a remote server just to remove metadata exposes your files unnecessarily.
By combining the read-only EXIF, GPS, XMP and C2PA provenance marker inspector with the local browser AI image, video, PDF and RAW metadata cleaner, creators can inspect and strip hidden container metadata 100% locally in their browser without uploading a single byte.
Supported Formats & WebAssembly Engine#
1. Images, Camera RAW, Video & PDF#
- Images: Cleans JPEG, PNG (
tEXt/iTXt/zTXt/caBXchunks), WebP, AVIF, and HEIC files. - Camera RAW (LibRaw WASM): Strips EXIF, GPS, and XMP blocks from DNG, CR2, NEF, and ARW files locally.
- Videos (FFmpeg.wasm) & PDFs (pdf-lib): Scrubs MP4, MOV, and WebM container tags (including Veo, Sora, Kling, and Runway metadata) and PDF document properties.
2. Honest Technical Boundaries#
- What It Removes: All file-header and container-level metadata (EXIF, GPS, XMP, IPTC, C2PA/JUMBF manifests, and AI prompt chunks) is removed locally in browser memory.
- What It Does Not Claim: Container cleaning does not alter invisible frequency-domain pixel watermarks (such as Google SynthID) and does not dictate how third-party social networks apply automated labels.
Step-by-Step Sanitization Workflow#
- Open the read-only EXIF, GPS, XMP and C2PA provenance marker inspector in any desktop or mobile browser.
- Drop up to 20 images, RAW photos, videos, or PDFs into the local processing queue.
- Inspect the detected metadata tags, run instant local sanitization, and download clean files individually or as a batch ZIP archive.
