PokeBonk type damage: worked examples#
Reading a type chart is easier with real cases. Here is how PokeBonk turns classic matchups into the softer values it actually uses.
Example: a Water move into a Fire foe. Classic rules call that super effective. The help text still says x2, but the hit lands at x1.35.
Example: a Fire move into a Water foe. Resisted. Instead of halving, PokeBonk trims the hit to x0.8.
Example: a move into a classic immunity. Old games would show zero. Here half the damage gets through, x0.5.
Example: a foe with two types. Both values are multiplied, then the total is held between x0.4 and x1.8, so stacked weaknesses never run away.
Example: Charmander using a Fire move. The starter bonus adds +10% on top, and the same goes for Bulbasaur with Grass and Squirtle with Water.
